Orientation Weekend in Great Britain

So last weekend (can’t believe it’s one week ago already) we had our orientation weekend for all the students nominated to UWCs this year by the GBNC. We all showed up at this cute place in the Derbyshire countryside with our families aaand IT WAS SO GOOD.

You can see above our cute UWCGB ‘20 generation. I met so many cool, amazing, lovely people. We’ve made a lil whatsapp group.

I won’t give it all away because the surprise is great but we did lots of group activities, did workshops on things like packing, mental health, hopes & fears and the code of conduct.

We also had a great bbq. The vegan/veggie line was longER than the meat line - pretty cool if you ask me :))

I met my co year Iman from Manchester, she’s really amazing I think we’ll represent the UK well! I’ve decided to bring baked beans to Mostar because apparently you can’T get them and what is a better showcase of British food than good ol beans on toast. So don’t worry people of UWCiM and Mostar you’ll be able to sample our finest cuisine on UWC day.

Also met my lovely second years Gray and Emma. Also three third years too. It was so nice to have such a great Mostar representation, I really appreciate all of their efforts in making it. Moment of sympathy for @londontopearson , NO CO YEAR NO SECOND YEAR NO PEARSON PEEPS rip :’(

It’s really crazy there are 5 of us from Cambridge this year. I repeat FIVE. And there is a second year at RCN who went to my secondary school.

Above is Alex (AD), Hana (CR) from Cambridge and me with my eyes closed wooo. Coincidently Hana was in the other class at primary school :0

Also massive shoutout to my new vegan friend Bea, we bonded over a very terrifying experience (not gonna give it away). She’s off to Costa Ricaaa.

Soo orientation was fab, I’m even more excited noww. It’s a bit sad too because our entire GB generation is never gonna be together again, but I hope as many of us as possible can meet up and share our experiences.

Massive thanks to the NC, second/third/higher years and my wonderful co years for a great weekend!!
