My Orientation Week

My first week at UWC Thailand is over. My first experiences as a UWC students are made and I'm so
happy that I got the chance to be a UWC student.
I got picked up at the airport and then we drove to UWC. My first thoughts were: ”WOW, how beautiful!”
After this week I’m still thinking the same.
Monday started with funny games to build a community, building new furniture and in the evening, we
had a traditional Thai welcoming ceremony. The g12, boarding mentors, and the teachers gave us fillets
around our left wrist. While they were doing this, we were holding a candle and they wished something
for us.
The week ended with mangrove planting and an unplanned mud war, with beach cleaning and a visit to a
turtle stationary.
The highlight was a small multi-cultural show on friday evening. We had input from all over the world.
Songs and performances from Canada, Thailand, Germany, Jamaica and China and a lot more. All the
different people in one room with their different nationalities and their flags were so beautiful.
So, we had a lot to do in the orientation week. Every day from 8am to 10pm but I enjoyed every second. It
was a tough and challenging week but it was also one of the best weeks of my life and definitely worth it!

We played games, talked and laughed
We socialized, told stories and discussed
We stayed up late, shared and tried food and sang
That is my UWC I dreamed of and waited for so long
That is the way I want to spend the next two years
Even if it’s getting hard and challenging
And it will be hard and challenging
But I’m excited and ready to fight
Anna (UWC Thailand 18-20)

P.S: I know that my English is not the best, so please be kind.
